Trombone trios

Rondo by Ludwig von Beethoven trans. Mark Prater This short Rondo (1783) was among Beethoven’s earliest published pieces, written when he was assistant court organist to the Elector of Cologne and harpsichordist to the court orchestra. Originally written for piano, it shows the keyboard technique of the young master as well as his grasp of the form. This transcription is so wonderfully conceived that it can be performed equally well as a trombone trio, tuba trio (2 euphoniums, 1 tuba) or for a conical trio (horn, euphonium, and tuba). Four Hymn Trios Arranged by John Jay Hilfiger This set of hymn tunes: Oh, For a Thousand Tongues to Sing, Lead On, O King Eternal, We Gather Together, I Know that My Redeemer Lives, is well conceived and arranged. Minuet K355/576b by W.A. Mozart trans. Mark Prater This setting of Mozart’s impish Minuet is for three trombones (2 tenor 1 bass). Mr. Prater transcribed this piece with his usual panache, allowing each voice to exhibit his virtuosic ability. WM #185…$5.50

Three Episodes by Chris Sharp Trombonist Mr. Sharp has written this trombone trio (2 tenor 1 bass), with his usual affinity for the instrument. Accessible to student and worthwhile to professional ensembles, it is set in three movements: The Trouble with Triplets, Triptych, The Three Caballeros. This piece has all the markings of a winner, a quick tempoed impressive technical extravaganza first movement, a lovely second movement, and a gamboling, tongue in cheek finale. WM #133…$10.00

Three Short Pieces by Dr. Michael Stewart Set in three short movements, this trombone trio ( 3 tenors or 2 tenor and a bass), this suite will work well as a refined crowd-pleaser in concert or a delightful change of pace for the studio teacher. This suite is just as effective a piece for euphonium trio. (For treble clef parts see “trumpet trios WM #146). WM #147…$9.00

Trio Sonata in C minor by G.P. Telemann trans. The work is written in four separate movements. “Overall, this is a usable publication for undergraduate or highly skilled high school trombonists.” Kevin, Chiarizzio, Baylor University, ITA Journal, April 2002 WM #58…$9.00
